The Freedom M1 is part of Malvern Star’s new sports hybrid collection. It’s designed for those who want a new bike for general fitness riding, short commutes, and family bike rides. The Freedom M1 is slimmer and sleeker compared to previous generations and rivals Giant’s Roam product range.
As a sports hybrid, the new Freedom M1 is meant to be versatile. It’s designed to be ridden on bike paths, rail trails, light dirt and gravel surfaces. It’s suitable for riders who need a bike for general fitness rides, commuting, or simply riding with the family.
Like most bikes at this price point, the Freedom M1 comes with an aluminium frame. There’s no difference between the M1 and the higher spec M2 frames.
The new Freedom frame has a better stiffness-to-weight ratio, which means it transfers more power to the road, resulting in less effort and better handling.
The frame also features internal cable routing and mounts for a kickstand, mudguards, and rear rack.
The M1 spec comes with front suspension with 65mm of travel, sufficient for smoothing out bumps on rail trails and rough bike paths.
Mechanical disc brakes provide more power and control, especially beneficial in hilly areas or damp conditions. The drivetrain components are sourced from microSHIFT, with a 24-speed drivetrain featuring 3 front gears and 8 rear gears.
Aluminium double wall rims deliver strength without adding excessive weight, ensuring the wheels will last for touring adventures or commuting.
